We are looking for a Senior Bid Manager to join AECOM’s Buildings & Places Pursuits Team, leading the development of strategic, high-value bids across our markets. This role drives pursuit strategy, end-to-end bid processes, and continuous improvement across the UK and Ireland.
The main priority is to lead the management of our largest and most strategic bids, as prioritised by B+P leadership and the work winning lead, from capture through to post-submission. These will predominantly be Enterprise Critical Pursuits (ECP) Tier 2 bids (valued between $20 million and $50 million net revenue), with other bids considered as needed.
Job Summary
As a Senior Bid Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of major bids across the full lifecycle, from early positioning to submission, interview preparation and post-bid review. You will work collaboratively with the capture manager, technical leads, bid team members, operational colleagues, writers (where appropriate) and the graphics team. You will drive winning strategies, ensure high-quality outputs, and foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
Bid leadership and strategy
* Lead the bid process from capture and win strategy development through to final submission and debrief in line with AECOM best practice, tailored to each bid.
* Develop and implement pursuit plans aligned with sector strategy and client needs.
* Facilitate workshops to define win themes, value propositions and storyboard content.
* Support bid strategy development through market, client and competitor analysis.
Bid management and execution
* Create and manage bid programs, ensuring timely delivery of compliant, high-quality submissions.
* Coordinate and motivate bid teams across the business, briefing contributors as needed.
* Oversee content development, including writing, formatting and graphics, ensuring alignment with brand standards.
Collaboration and stakeholder engagement
* Work with capture managers, sector leads, CAMs, marketing and graphics teams to align efforts and share insights.
* Engage internal stakeholders to gather client intelligence and align with strategic goals.
* Represent the work winning team within B+P, promoting best practices and resources.
Continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
* Capture and share lessons learned and client feedback to drive continuous improvement.
* Promote collaboration, creativity and knowledge sharing across the team.
* Maintain Salesforce records to support data-driven decision-making.
* Support bidding projects to improve processes (e.g., Oscar, our AI tool; model answers library; bid training for technical staff).
Team development and leadership
* Foster a positive, inclusive and high-performing team culture.
* Mentor junior staff through coaching and skills development.
* Identify training needs and support professional growth.
* Escalate risks appropriately and maintain a calm, solutions-focused approach.
* Oversee robust quality reviews to ensure technical responses meet client requirements.
* Manage bid governance, ensuring compliance with legal, commercial and client requirements.
* For all ECP Tier 2 opportunities, ensure adherence to the process, including ECP board formation and use of best-practice tools per the ECP playbook.
* Maintain version control and manage document workflows through the bid lifecycle.
* Anticipate and mitigate risks, escalating issues to leadership as needed.
* Promote use of AECOM’s bidding processes and tools to enable capture managers to pursue opportunities independently when appropriate.
