What is the job role?
The Ethnic Minority Achievement Service maintains a casual register of people with good language skills to work as bilingual education assistants in nurseries, primary schools, and secondary schools across Coventry and the surrounding area, as well as with other Coventry City Council Departments. You will primarily support newly arrived children to settle into school and begin to learn English.
This is a casual post. We anticipate a need for the languages listed; however, work availability cannot be guaranteed.
Interviews are provisionally scheduled for 12 July and/or 19 July and will be conducted in-person at a City Council building in Coventry.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, and appointment is conditional upon a satisfactory police records check via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
You will need:
* To be fluent and literate in one or more of the languages listed below
* To have a good command of written and spoken English
* Willingness to work in nurseries, primary schools, secondary schools across the city, and attend ad hoc meetings
* Availability for at least 4 mornings or 4 afternoons a week, or a combination of both during school hours
* Ability to travel to various schools and education providers across Coventry
