Location: Bournemouth

We are looking for a Tutor to join our dedicated team in our Bournemouth Centre.

Job Description

* Prepare course/training materials
* Complete external paperwork as required in a timely manner
* Maintain the quality of the learner programme to a sufficient standard to pass IQA and EQA criteria
* Complete learner and delivery paperwork as required in a timely manner
* Teach wellbeing awareness
* To attend business networking events to promote the activities of SWRAC
* To support learners with LDD/SEND in a variety of classroom settings
* To work closely with team members to ensure that ILP targets are monitored and reviewed
* To be aware of individual learner’s risk assessments and needs
* Encourage independence and self-help skills wherever possible

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential:

* Recognised teaching qualification
* Level 2 Maths & English (or equivalent/ GCSE level 4)
* Experience of working with young adults who have SEND/behavioural difficulties
* Understanding of relevant polices /codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation

Desirable

* Behaviour qualifications
* SEND qualifications

Skills / Competencies

* Good communication and calculation skills
* Effective team player
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to supervise students effectively both in college and out of the centre in line with the behaviour policy
* Ability to manage challenging situations and a demanding working environment
* Be competent at IT
* Ability to work in partnership with parents/carers and teachers
* Ability to use own initiative and work flexibility
* Ability to support learners with a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties.
* Innovative thinker with ability to adapt teaching and support strategies.
* Ability to prioritise workload.

Knowledge

* Ability to relate well to vulnerable young adults
* Understanding of behaviour management strategies
* Understanding of working with young adults who have SEND/behavioural difficulties
* Understanding of relevant polices /codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
* General understanding of curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies
* Work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these settings

Experience

* Working with vulnerable young people with learning disabilities or challenging emotional and behavioural difficulties
* Experience of working with challenging young people in an educational establishment

Job Type: Full time

Salary: £29,700 to £32,700 per year
