About the role: Performing Arts teacher
We are looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Teacher in Performing Arts to join the Createch Faculty at Banbury College. This post will lead on our Performing Arts programmes at Banbury College where courses span over Levels 2, 3 and 4 delivering a broad range of specialisms, including: Acting for Stage and Screen, Movement, Dance and Musical Theatre, as well as back-stage technical and production. This post provides an excellent opportunity for a teacher with passion and drive who is committed to enabling our students to unlock their potential and switch on to the power of learning. Knowledge of UAL specifications is desirable but not essential.
The post holder will be required to have a range of abilities within Performing and Production Arts as well as being the students key tutor providing pastoral support, personal development, monitoring attendance and behaviour, progress and wellbeing, and supporting students to achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally. The role will involve teaching across the Performing Arts department, delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that support students in developing performance, rehearsal, and creative skills. The post holder will also direct (or choreograph) student performances, supporting learners through the creative process from rehearsal to final production, and contribute to enrichment activities, industry and career collaborations, showcases, live performances and cross-department productions to enhance the overall student experience and progression opportunities within the creative industries.
This is a permanent, part-time role working 33.3 hours per week (FTE 0.90) based at our Banbury College Campus.
What do you need to be successful as a Performing Arts teacher at Activate Learning?
Successful candidates will have an appropriate professional qualification and/or a degree, recent teaching experience and the ability to deliver a programme that includes dance, acting, and musical theatre. We would consider applications from unqualified applicants, with the ability to inspire our learners and a willingness to complete a teaching qualification. In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.
