Export Official Veterinarian – Leicestershire

Location: Leicestershire and surrounding areas
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday (occasional weekend overtime if required)
Type: Permanent, Full-time
Start Date: 5th January 2026
Salary: Dependant on experience (with car allowance)
Eligibility: Must have the right to work in the UK

The Opportunity

HallMark Veterinary and Compliance Services is recruiting for an experienced and motivated Export Official Veterinarian (OV) to support export certification operations across Leicestershire.

This is a permanent, on-site role offering stability, consistent working hours, and the opportunity to play a key part in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient export processes for businesses within the region.

As a key member of the Exports Team, you will play a central role in ensuring that products of animal origin (POAOs) meet UK legislation and importing country requirements. Full training will be provided on all relevant plants, systems, and export processes, with comprehensive support for any required export panel approvals.

About the Role

As an Export Official Veterinarian, you will contribute to the safe and compliant movement of products across international borders by verifying documentation, completing Export Health Certificates (EHCs), and ensuring exporters meet the relevant UK and global regulatory standards.

You will work closely with local businesses, providing professional guidance, maintaining accurate records, and supporting HallMark's commitment to high-quality, reliable certification services.

Key Responsibilities:

* Ensure compliance with UK legislation, veterinary ethics, and the requirements of importing countries, maintaining the UK's reputation in trade and disease control.
* Complete Export Health Certificates (EHCs) accurately and professionally, ensuring consignments meet all health, welfare, and public health requirements.
* Demonstrate a thorough understanding of RCVS certification principles and issue certificates in line with the Code of Professional Conduct and the 10 Principles of Certification.
* Prepare thoroughly for certification tasks by reviewing Notes for Guidance (NFGs) and certificate instructions for each destination country.
* Carry out inspection and verification checks, including supervising and validating the loading of consignments.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and colleagues, promoting HallMark's service and high standards of customer care.
* Complete documentation accurately and on time, including inputting data into company and official systems.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

* Bachelor or Master of Science in Veterinary Medicine and membership of the RCVS.
* OCQ(V) – ES (Essential Skills), EX (Exports General) & PX (Products Exports).
* Strong understanding of legislation, certification rules, and import/export requirements.
* Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on ethical, customer-centred service.
* Reliable, flexible, and collaborative working style.
* Confident in data input and use of company systems.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

* Previous experience working as an Export OV.
* Experience in abattoirs, meat processing environments, or export health certification.
* Experience working at a Border Control Post (BIP/BCP).
* Good knowledge of the food industry.
