Overview
Operations Manager – MOD Stafford at VIVO Defence Services. Lead the effective, safe, and compliant delivery of maintenance and response works across MoD sites. On-site at MOD Stafford, accountable for day-to-day operations, quality, safety, compliance, and site performance within the contract.
The Role
As the Operations Manager, you will:
* Deliver maintenance services in line with statutory legislation and MoD requirements, ensuring Health & Safety and Environmental standards are met.
* Monitor supply chain performance, ensuring teams are qualified, equipped, and delivering value for money.
* Review risk assessments and method statements; coordinate consistent, safe working practices on site; report progress in the CAFM system.
* Review risk registers, identify and escalate defects, and ensure compliance with JSP 375 and other safety requirements (including Asbestos and Legionella management). Act as the responsible person where required and work with Mobile Authorised Persons for safe procedures, especially for work at height and in confined spaces.
* Act as single point of contact for customer issues; build relationships with Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and end users.
* Develop new work requirements, resolve complaints, and support helpdesk with technical guidance. Lead, supervise, and coach teams; promote a strong safety culture and high service levels.
* Make sound, cost-effective decisions; support risk management; contribute to forward maintenance planning; ensure operations are delivered efficiently and profitably.
* Communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels; motivate site teams through decisive leadership and effective delegation; build collaborative relationships with local MoD personnel.
* Plan resources, analyse data, maintain records, and monitor milestones; drive continuous improvement and full implementation of Health and Safety procedures.
What You’ll Bring
Minimum HNC or equivalent in Building, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline); or an equivalent management-level Health & Safety qualification such as SMSTS. Alternatively, qualified by experience with sufficient technical knowledge to triage maintenance tasks and provide first-line advice. Experience managing hard services FM is required. Strong IT skills (Excel and Word) and a commitment to continuous professional development.
This is a critical role for someone ready to take ownership of operational excellence across a high-profile, fast-paced defence contract.
