Senior RF Engineer – 12 Month Contract
📍 Norwich (Onsite 4 Days / 1 Day Remote)
We are working with a global R&D engineering business that designs and develops a wide range of innovative products across multiple industry sectors. They are seeking an experienced Senior RF Engineer to join them on a 12-month contract, supporting the creation of a new RF function within the organisation.
This role offers the opportunity to take technical ownership, influence engineering direction, and work on diverse, cutting-edge R&D projects.
The Role
You will lead RF design and development activities while helping define tools, processes, and best practices for RF engineering across the business. Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams, you will support projects from concept through to verification and production readiness.
The role is based onsite in Norwich four days per week, with one day per week working from home.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead RF system, circuit, and module design from concept to validation
* Establish RF development processes, standards, and best practice
* Define RF architectures, specifications, and performance targets
* Perform RF simulation, modelling, and analysis
* Oversee RF testing, debugging, and performance optimisation
* Support regulatory compliance and certification activities
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the engineering team
* Collaborate closely with digital, analogue, firmware, and systems engineers
Essential Skills & Experience
* Extensive experience in RF engineering within a commercial R&D environment
* Strong understanding of RF theory, including impedance matching, noise, linearity, stability, and interference
* Proven experience designing RF circuits and systems across relevant frequency ranges
* Hands-on expertise using RF test and measurement equipment (e.g. spectrum analysers, network analysers, signal generators, power meters)
* Experience with RF simulation and design tools (e.g. ADS, AWR, CST, HFSS or similar)
* Ability to debug and optimise RF performance at board and system level
* Strong understanding of EMC/EMI principles and RF compliance requirements
* Experience working through the full product development lifecycle
* Ability to work autonomously, take technical ownership, and make sound engineering decisions
