Key Duties
Deliver high-quality first-opinion veterinary care for small animals Conduct consultations and routine surgical procedures Manage a varied caseload with dedicated consulting and surgical time Work closely with an experienced nursing team and support staff Provide sole charge cover on Saturdays (with support available remotely) Maintain excellent standards of patient and client care
Working Pattern
4 days per week (8:30am 6:30pm with 1-hour lunch break) 1 in 4 Saturdays (9:00am 5:00pm, with a scheduled lunch break) No out-of-hours commitments (covered by a nearby hospital) This structure provides a strong work-life balance with predictable hours and protected breaks.
Practice Facilities
Independent, single-site first-opinion practice Well-equipped with modern diagnostic facilities including an in-house laboratory (IDEXX), digital radiography, ultrasound, video endoscopy, multiparameter monitoring equipment, and orthopaedic surgical kits (TTA and TPLO) Strong team of veterinary surgeons, experienced nurses, and support staff Excellent nurse utilisation and team collaboration Recently converted premises with spacious staff facilities including kitchen, lounge, and rest areas
Key Skills, Qualifications and Requirements
BVSc or equivalent qualification recognised in the UK RCVS registration (or eligibility) Minimum 12 years' experience in small animal practice Confident with routine surgery and consultations Comfortable with occasional sole charge (Saturdays) Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude
