Due to a strong fieldwork programme, we are looking to recruit keen and enthusiastic Field Project Supervisors to become part of our team. You would be based from our Cambridge office, however our work could take you anywhere in the country; currently we are deploying staff to sites in Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, and Suffolk. The ability to work away from home for long periods is essential. Upcoming projects in the region include evaluations on major linear schemes, and large-scale excavations of Iron Age to Romano-British settlements, Bronze Age funerary monuments and medieval roadside settlement.

Position Requirements
* The role will mainly be field based, but some time may/will also be spent in the office.
* Candidates should possess substantial experience in professional archaeological fieldwork within the UK or Irish commercial sectors, along with a strong comprehension of the archaeological context of these regions.
* Candidates will have on-site responsibility for watching briefs, evaluations and small to medium excavations on a range of both home and away-based projects, reporting to a Project Manager. Candidates may also run areas of larger excavations, reporting to a Project Officer.
* You will have a good understanding of the Health and Safety legislation relevant to the commercial environment, as well the needs and priorities of commercial clients.
* Candidates should have report writing experience and will produce unpublished reports for their sites.
* Strong communication skills and a commitment to community engagement.
* Candidates will be able to supervise and assist with performance monitoring and training where appropriate, for Assistant Supervisors, Field Archaeologists and Graduate Trainees.
* A full clean driving licence and the ability to drive OA company vehicles is essential.
* A degree in archaeology or related discipline will be highly advantageous.
* SSSTS qualification (or similar) will be advantageous.
* Membership of CIfA and a current CSCS card is desirable.

* Competitive salary range £31,212 – £33,577 (appointments will be made on the basis of demonstrated ability, previous experience and CIfA membership if appropriate).

* 21 days annual leave plus 3 concessionary days between Christmas and New Year (not including public holidays).
* 37.5 hours (basic) week with optional paid overtime at time and a half hours in-excess of 37.5 hours Monday-Friday and on Saturdays, and double time on Sundays and bank holidays. The standard day includes 40 minutes paid break, in addition to an unpaid lunchbreak.
* Subsistence payment of £22.50 per night (tax free) and free, no sharing in single rooms (usually B & B or self-catering) for away-based projects.
* Overtime will be paid for additional hours worked including travelling time where you are the ‘responsible person’ or driver.
* We pay 100% of CIfA subscription fees.
