Salary: £38,220 + £5,673 market-enhanced payment, progressing to £41,771 + £5,242

About the Team
Hertfordshires Family Safeguarding Teams are multi‑agency, bringing together childrens social workers and adult specialists in mental health, substance misuse, and domestic abuse. These teams operate under a strengths‑based model, using motivational interviewing and shared decision‑making to support families to achieve sustainable change. Hertfordshire County Councils Centre for Family Safeguarding Practice provides training, mentoring, and a culture of reflective practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake assessments, child protection enquiries, and ongoing safeguarding work with families.
* Work in partnership with adult specialists to address underlying causes such as mental health, substance misuse, or domestic abuse.
* Use motivational interviewing to build engagement and motivate change in parents.
* Develop and monitor safeguarding plans, attend meetings and court as necessary.
* Contribute to reflective supervision and team development.
Person Specification
* Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.
* Proven experience in statutory safeguarding, child protection, or assessments.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Children Act) and multi‑agency working.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and reflective practice skills.
* Commitment to strengths‑based, whole‑family work.
