Job description
To support the Financial Controller and work alongside the existing Finance Assistant to:
1. Process supplier invoices and payments in a timely manner and in accordance with company policies
2. Allocate customer receipts to sales ledger accounts
3. Carry out bank reconciliation
4. Process accruals and prepayments
5. Record Fixed Asset additions and disposals
6. Process staff expense claims in accordance with company policies
7. Produce regular and ad-hoc reports primarily using Excel
Payroll Responsibilities
To be responsible for the UK Payroll, including:
1. Timely and accurate end-to-end processing of payroll, including overtime, starters/leavers, journals, month-end, year-end (P11d), holiday calculations, pension payments, resolving pay queries, and dealing with external agencies including HMRC
2. Ensure legal compliance across internal and outsourced payroll functions, implementing effective controls and procedures
3. Continuously improve payroll processes and collaborate with HR to identify a suitable replacement system
4. Maintain robust procedures, ensuring regular monitoring and adherence, including proper authorization
5. Review payroll system reports and timesheet data for accuracy and consistency
Other Responsibilities
* Maintain confidentiality and data security standards
* Support internal and external audits
* Perform other ad hoc tasks as required
Required Profile
Qualifications and Experience
* Recently qualified / finalist AAT
* Specific Payroll qualification
* Experience working within an SME environment and a small team
* Experience managing UK payroll via a bureau, including administration, coordination, and reporting
* Experience with payroll systems such as ADP and system change management is advantageous but not required
Skills and Abilities
* Attention to detail and accuracy
* Supportive team player
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Teams
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
* Problem-solving willingness
* Willingness to travel within the UK if needed
This position is based in the Abingdon office only. All candidates must have the right to work in the UK at the start of employment.
