Your Role as a Special Education Teacher
* Set Instructional Goals: Align objectives with Virginia state assessments.
* Plan Instruction: Develop lessons based on content knowledge, student needs, and curriculum standards.
* Adapt Teaching Strategies: Tailor approaches for diverse learners using evaluations and assessments.
* Implement IEPs: Provide accommodations and modifications to meet academic and behavioral goals.
* Utilize Applied Behavior Analysis: Employ research-based methods for effective instruction.
* Assess Student Mastery: Guide instructional decisions and communicate progress to parents and stakeholders.
* Collaborate with the Team: Develop positive behavior support plans and conduct team meetings.
* Communicate Effectively: Engage with students, families, and the team to achieve common goals.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's or Master's Degree.
* Certification by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) in special education or adaptive curriculum, or certification from another state.
* Valid Virginia Driver's License.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills.
* Active listening and emotional intelligence to support students' needs.
* Ability to foster a positive, professional school environment with patience and adaptability.
* Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and communication.
