Salary: From £40,233 (£38,622 + £1,611 market supplement) per annum* + Overtime opportunities
Contract: Permanent, Full Time (40 hours per week)
Location: Northallerton, North Yorkshire
New York Highways Property (NYH Property) operates independently focusing solely on property maintenance and construction across a range of private, public and commercial buildings. This position focuses on property maintenance and construction, not highway infrastructure.
We’re looking for an Electrician to join our dynamic Property Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive and forward‑thinking organisation, working on a variety of capital projects and responsive maintenance tasks across a diverse portfolio of commercial properties.
What You’ll Be Doing:
You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving our properties. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:
* Carrying out a full range of electrical work, including installation, testing, fault diagnosis, and repairs, in accordance with work orders and specifications.
* Work on a variety of tasks across different work programmes, including emergency repairs, planned maintenance, and capital projects. Liaise with supervisors, stakeholders, and team members to complete jobs effectively and escalate any unresolved matters.
* Contribute to the planning and safety documentation required for each project, including risk assessments and method statements.
* Supervise and train apprentices or junior staff members, ensuring high‑quality work and compliance with health and safety practices.
* Ensure that all work complies with relevant legislation, building codes, and internal processes and report on progress using handheld devices.
* Take part in the on‑call rota for emergency out‑of‑hours repairs.
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation
* Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Gold Card
* Full UK Driving Licence
* Proven experience in a similar hands‑on role
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
* Willingness to travel across the county and participate in the on‑call rota
* Enhanced DBS check (Children’s Barred List)

* In addition to your annual basic salary, you will also receive an additional temporary payment of a market supplement. This will be payable monthly in arrears. Please note the supplement is a temporary, additional payment and will be shown separately on your payslip and is subject to annual review.
