About the Role
As a locum Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, you'll provide expert care and contribute to the delivery of high-quality services.
Responsibilities
10. Provide senior clinical leadership in both obstetrics and gynaecology services.
11. Lead ward rounds on antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology wards.
12. Manage labour ward activity, including high‑risk cases and emergency situations.
13. Perform obstetric and gynaecological procedures (e.g., caesarean sections, instrumental deliveries, hysteroscopy, laparoscopic procedures depending on local requirements).
14. Run consultant‑led antenatal, gynaecology and rapid‑access clinics.
15. Participate in on‑call rota, providing emergency obstetric and gynaecology cover.
16. Support and supervise junior doctors, midwives, and allied health professionals.
17. Contribute to MDT meetings, case discussions and risk management activities.
18. Ensure high-quality, evidence‑based patient care and maintain accurate documentation.
19. Participate in governance activities such as audits, incident reviews, and clinical teaching.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
20. MBBS or equivalent medical degree
21. Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
22. A current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or PVG check - or a willingness to undergo one as part of the registration process
23. UK Right to Work
24. Strong communication and teamworking skills
Desirable:
25. CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (or within 6 months of achieving it)
