Job Title: Assistant Headteacher - Inclusion and SEND

Location: New Barn School, Newbury, RG20 8HZ

Salary: Up to £53,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

As part of our continued growth in service, we are recruiting an Assistant Headteacher - Inclusion and SEND for New Barn School in Newbury. Our well-established schools support pupils aged 6 to 19 with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), as well as other complex needs.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking an Assistant Headteacher to lead on Inclusion.

The successful candidate will have experience working with young people with complex learning needs. You will understand how these needs impact learning and behavior. Specialist knowledge of SEMH is desirable. You will create a culture enabling all learners and staff to excel, understand curriculum design principles, and drive curriculum development at New Barn School.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist the Headteacher in ensuring high educational standards and attainment, through designing and delivering engaging personal development programs.
* Lead strategic and operational areas including:
* Careers and Work Experience
* Enrichment, Trips and Visits
* PSHE
* Staff training on personal development

As a senior leader, modeling outstanding classroom practice and providing visible leadership through duties, behavior support, and stakeholder engagement are essential.

We seek a colleague who:

* Can motivate and coach staff for outstanding practice
* Thinks creatively to engage learners of all levels

New Barn School offers a balanced curriculum for students aged 6–19 with SEMH complexities, utilizing outdoor learning including forest school, farm experiences, and horse riding. It is within commuting distance of Swindon, Oxford, Andover, Basingstoke, and Reading.
