Responsibilities
* Manage and assist commercial contracts, procurement, and negotiations in an NEC environment.
* Lead post‑contract commercial activities, including payment approvals, cost assessments, and contract changes.
* Support contractors with transparent, data‑driven processes.
* Identify cost‑saving strategies and optimize contract performance.
* Provide data‑driven cost‑management insights to support key decision‑making.
* Act as an integral part of the team accountable for the commercial and contractual performance of the project.
* Support business objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances.
* Carry out assigned duties efficiently in accordance with processes and procedures.
* Comply with established commercial/procurement/contractual strategies.
* Take personal responsibility for complying with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality Standards.
* Operate processes for the selection, appointment, and management of construction and engineering contractors, individually or as part of a team.
* Provide advice on procurement strategy, assemble and seek agreement on long and short tender lists, prepare and issue tender documents, manage queries from tendering contractors, contribute to structured tender evaluations, and prepare contracts.
* Oversee post‑contract quantity surveying: scrutinise and verify interim payment applications, prepare certificates, manage change control in accordance with contracts, produce cost reports and cost forecasts, assist Project Managers with early warnings, instructions, and compensation events, attend progress meetings, promote commercial awareness throughout the project, and support formal dispute resolution and contract close‑out strategies.
Qualifications
* Degree‑qualified and working towards or already holding chartered status (e.g., in quantity surveying or cost management).
* Proven experience in quantity surveying and estimating, ideally on large‑scale infrastructure projects.
* Familiarity with NEC contracts and cost‑management best practices.
* Strong collaboration skills and a proactive, problem‑solving attitude.
