Interim Assistant Director of Communications and PR
Based in London, hybrid working
Length: 3 months initially
IR35 status: Inside
We are seeking an AD of Communications to lead a strategic communications function and help position the council as an ambitious, collaborative and resident-focused organisation. You will shape the council’s public narrative, ensure communications are proactive and insight-led, and support elected members and senior leaders to communicate clearly, confidently, and consistently.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead development of the council’s overall communications strategy, corporate narrative and annual priorities
* Act as the council’s principal adviser on communications, public sentiment, behavioural insights and strategic messaging
* Communicate the council’s priorities and impact internally and externally, supporting the organisation’s strategic vision and missions
* Provide confident, politically astute advice to Cabinet, senior officers, and Members
* Lead major corporate campaigns that drive behaviour change, promote local priorities and build trust and pride in the borough
Skills, experience and knowledge required:
1. Previous experience in a similar role within Local Government
