An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse, RNLD or RN/RNMH (with extensive learning Disability experience at band 6 or above) to lead and undertake a project focused on increasing uptake for cancer screening within Coventry and Warwickshire for People with a Learning disability. The post holder will work closely with established CLDTs and develop relationships with Primary care, particularly those with the learning disability GP friendly badge, alongside other stakeholders including social care. For more information or an informal chat please contact. • To lead and establish effective links with local Primary care services, multidisciplinary cancer screening teams and stakeholders to ensure timely presentation and improved uptake of cancer screening programmes. • Coordinate and support the delivery of interventions to increase cancer screening and to promote the Healthy Lifestyles agenda across the Community learning disability teams. • To Lead in the development and updating of this service within CWPT. • To be competent in Physical Health and Healthy Lifestyles promotion and education. • To promote cancer screening services and to educate target populations signposting appropriately, while ensuring accessibility. • To support the establishment and embedding cancer screening interventions as part of normal routine physical healthcare. • To work flexibly and be involved in engaging in Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) as a fundamental part of this process. • To share information with other members of staff where necessary to ensure holistic care is maintained. • To liaise with the CLDTs, Primary and Acute care • To maintain and update knowledge in keeping with recommendations for changes within cancer screening programmes locally and nationally. The post holder will be required to work collaboratively in learning disability services to support service users to access cancer screening services. To co-produce and deliver with stakeholder’s health promotion and targeted interventions in relation to local and national cancer screening programmes, with the aim to reduce health inequalities within targeted populations across Coventry and Warwickshire. The post holder will play a pivotal role in supporting and empowering them to make informed choices and decisions relating to cancer screening. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly across all Community Learning disability services across Coventry and Warwickshire. The post holder will be expected to have a progressive attitude and a drive for continual improvement within this service. To act as an expert practitioner and a role model to others. The post holder will be a resource of clinical knowledge and competence within the service area and externally, contributing to staff and service development. The post holder will be expected to supervise other staff including students. Be able to support smooth running of the service on a day-to-day basis, dealing with issues at the frontline of service delivery and report any more complex issues to the Management team.
