General Manager - Radiology
Responsible to the Radiology Head of Operations for the day-to-day operational management of the department of Radiology across all East Kent University NHS Foundation Trust sites.
To provide advice and support to the Radiology Head of Operations and to deputise for the Radiology Head of Operations in their absence. The post holder will be an experienced and skilled operational manager who will use their knowledge and experience to inform the optimal delivery of the service and aid the Radiology leadership triumvirate in the delivery of a high standard of clinical care.
The post holder will be dynamic, innovative, forward-thinking, and will contribute to service development. The post holder will work closely with all stakeholders to deliver a high-quality diagnostic service within a safe environment for staff and patients, and having associated responsibilities for efficiency, prioritisation of work and use of resources.
Role Specific Responsibilities
* Assist the Head of Operations in ensuring that all performance targets are met and support the development and implementation of sustainable solutions in conjunction with clinical and managerial colleagues across the Care Group.
* Ensure operational delivery of services; lead and effectively implement change management initiatives to improve service provision.
* Influence the strategic development and service improvement within the agreed portfolio, in conjunction with the senior leadership team for the care group.
* Lead and deliver strategic development and service improvement as required.
* Ensure that in all specific work areas all local and national performance targets and objectives are met.
* Manage resources (human, estate, financial) as agreed with the Head of Operations.
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent experience
* Project Management experience
* Evidence of continuous professional development
Desirable
* Prince 2
Experience, Skills and Knowledge
* Significant experience in a healthcare environment
* Proven track record of achieving targets
* Experience and knowledge of current issues and themes affecting the NHS
* Experience in report writing and delivering presentations
* Experience of staff management, including setting objectives, team and individual appraisals, recruitment and disciplinaries
* Experience working across networks and a wide range of stakeholders
* Budget management, including reducing costs/efficiency gains, monitoring and determining corrective action
* Full range of IT skills including spreadsheet analysis
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work proactively with senior managers
* Understanding of information governance and confidentiality
* Understanding of equality and diversity issues and how this affects visitors, patients and staff
* Understanding of the NHS constitution
* Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development related to the role
