We are seeking to appoint a public health data analyst to work within the Public Health South Tees team. Public Health South Tees covers two local authority areas – Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland. The post will provide public health intelligence expertise to the team, the wider councils and our partners.
The postholder will be employed by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council as part of the South Tees Public Health team and will be supported by a collaborative joint management arrangement.
The postholder will provide specialist data and intelligence analysis and interpretation to understand the health needs of the population, addressing health inequalities, determining priorities for action and contributing to an understanding of the wider determinants of health.
You will need to be passionate about gathering and scrutinising data, looking for trends and understanding what the data means. The postholder will need to be highly experienced in working with data and have excellent knowledge of statistical techniques.
A key focus will be to support key business processes such as needs assessment, equity audits and health impact assessments. The postholder will also have a key role in relation to the performance monitoring of public health programmes and outcomes and will work across departments and directorates to embed public health performance measures into corporate and directorate reporting requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment. The role will be challenging and varied and requires flexibility, the ability to work autonomously and prioritise workload to meet conflicting deadlines. The postholder will also need excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to present complex public health intelligence to a wide range of audiences in ways that are accessible, meaningful and appropriate for use.
The postholder will work alongside a public health intelligence specialist and another public health data analyst in the intelligence team. The postholder will work in a broad, multi-skilled blended home/office working environment dependent on the needs of the service.
