Introduction: Junior Officer (Second Lieutenant and Lieutenant) applicants are invited to attach to the University of London Officers' Training Corps as Platoon Commanders for a 6 month - 2 year period. Applicants will remain assigned to their parent unit as to not interfere with their MS and career progression. Applicants must have evidenced support from their parent unit to commence attachment. Unit Role: University of London Officers' Training Corps (ULOTC) is to develop the leadership potential of selected students and Army Reserve potential officers, and to promote the Army’s ethos and career opportunities in order to secure commitment to the Army, first as officers, but also as future leaders in their chosen profession who will champion the Army in society. Post Role: Platoon Commander - an opportunity to train, develop, command a large number of highly enthusiastic Officer Cadets in a well-resourced, well-staffed, and well-supported environment. Successful applicants will be assigned to a junior training company but should be prepared to support other company activity as and when required. RSDs: An equivalent assignment would be associated with 35 - 60 as standard (RSDs/STs are usually available for certain additional taskings) but this must be decided and agreed by your parent unit as they will still be providing RSDs. Routine: Parade Tuesday evening during University term time (1745-2100 approx) - new training year starts Sept/Oct. Approx 7 Green Weekends; a summer Annual Deployment Exercise; as well as various Special to Arm visits and Leadership events. Ample opportunity to lead and/or support additional activity such as AT, Battlefield Tours, development training.
