Job overview

Please Note:

To support the coordinator with administration of the paediatric and transition diabetes service at Darent Valley Hospital..


Main duties of the job

To provide a comprehensive, confidential and high quality administrative and clinical support service to the Paediatric and Transition Diabetes Specialist Nurses.

The role will include using dedicated systems to manage patient appointments and also maintain patient records, collect data for Best Practice Tariff and audit purposes.

The job will involve patient contact on the telephone and face to face within a clinical environment. There will also be face to face contact in the school and home environment.

The post will require independent working following agreed guidelines within Diabetes Services. It will require the post holder to prioritise their own work load and to use their initiative.

The workload will be spread across Paediatric and Transitional Diabetes care services.

To be an active member in business planning and progression of the Paediatric and Transition Diabetes services and implement service improvement.

Person specification


Expirience

* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team within a health care setting Able to work within a team prioritise workload with minimal supervision
* Taking part in audits Ability to deliver basic clinical advice within set guidelines Experience of organising study days


Education

* Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook In house patient information system (PAS) Educated to GCSE level or equivalent Grade C and above in English and Maths NVQ level 2
* NVQ level 3 or equivalent or ability to undertake training towards this qualification


Knowledge

* Knowledge of child health, development and protection Understanding safeguarding issues Basic knowledge of diabetes Understanding of working with agencies/multidisciplinary working
* Competent in setting up and using databases
