Overview
As a People Business Partner, you will work in a dynamic and inclusive People & Change team, partnering with senior managers and line managers to build strong working relationships. You will adopt a proactive and responsive approach to the changing needs of the business, understand the core business, bring insight, add value, and challenge the status quo to support management in delivering objectives. You will work with stakeholders to implement and embed the strategic People agenda for your area of responsibility, providing HR and employee relations expertise in line with best practice, internal compliance, and legal requirements. You will maximise workforce effectiveness by coaching and mentoring managers to manage their people, and partner with business leaders to achieve operational goals through effective people management. You will deliver the people strategy in your area and ensure workforce planning to have the right people with the right skills in the right jobs. Responsibilities
* Provide HR / employee relations expertise and address people matters in line with best practice, internal compliance and legal requirements.
* Partner with business leaders to ensure operational goals are achieved through effective people management and proactive support to line managers.
* Deliver the people strategy for the area of responsibility and ensure workforce planning to secure the right skills and capacity.
* Coach and mentor managers to maximise workforce effectiveness and performance.
* Work with stakeholders to implement and embed the strategic People agenda for the business area of responsibility.
* Support change initiatives, including restructuring, organisational design and transformation, in consultation with recognised unions and employee representatives.
* Develop and update people-related policies, act as a source of expert guidance, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
* Educated to degree level, or equivalent experience, with a postgraduate qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline.
* CIPD level 7 qualification.
* Comprehensive knowledge of employment legislation and its practical application in the workplace.
* Extensive knowledge of people best practice, workforce and succession planning, and change management methodologies.
* Significant experience of business partnering in a dynamic multi-functional environment.
* Experience applying employment law pragmatically in handling complex employee relations, resourcing, change management and performance management matters.
* Proven track record of providing credible, expert people advice to leadership teams and managers in a complex environment.
* Experience negotiating and consulting with recognised trade unions and/or staff representative bodies.
* Able to work across multiple sites, including travelling and occasional overnight stays.

* Experience of working in the public, not-for-profit or charity sector.
* Strategic awareness with the ability to apply it to operational challenges and positively impact business results.
* Confidence in managing and influencing a diverse range of senior stakeholders.
* Ability to identify and assess risks and reach balanced decisions.
* Ability to lead, motivate, coach, and manage a team of people practitioners.
* Excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills.
* Ability to analyse data and apply analytics to improve business delivery.
* Strong commercial awareness and ability to balance commercial success with organisational values.
* Strong IT skills to input, report and interpret data from HRIS and recruitment/ATS.
