Role Summary
The Managing Director sets the strategic direction and drives growth and performance of Napier Turbochargers. The role requires credible engagement in technical discussions and setting clear strategic direction in consultation with subject‑matter experts, balancing commercial and operational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and deliver the company's strategy in alignment with long‑term ambitions and near‑term priorities.
* Ensure efficient, scalable and profitable operations across the business.
* Provide clear direction to senior management, ensuring alignment, accountability and effective decision‑making.
* Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, investment prioritisation and cost control.
* Maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders; customers, partners and regulators.
* Establish clear performance targets and ensure they are met.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal and government requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
* 15+ years in senior general management or executive roles.
* Strong commercial and financial acumen with a track record of driving profitability and growth.
* Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in technically complex environments.
* Proven capability to understand, challenge and synthesize technical information without being a subject‑matter expert.
* Sound judgement, structured problem‑solving skills and ability to make decisions under uncertainty.
* Excellent communication skills, particularly in translating complex issues into clear direction.
* Preferred: background in manufacturing, industrial or technology‑driven businesses; experience working closely with engineering‑led organisations.
* Preferred: familiarity with industrial engine systems, rotating machinery or adjacent technologies.
* Preferred: exposure to innovation, digitalisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Executive or advanced management development certification.
