Job Title: Medical Technologist
Department: Laboratory Services
Location: Canton - Potsdam Hospital
Hours Per Week: 37.5 scheduled hours
Schedule: Variable, 7.5-hour shifts
About the Role
As a vital member of our professional medical team, you will play a crucial role in performing clinical laboratory analyses and examinations. Your expertise will assist in diagnosing and treating patients by accurately analyzing blood, urine, body fluids, and tissues. You will utilize a variety of instruments and methods, all while adhering to regulatory lab requirements.
Your Responsibilities
* Perform testing accurately and in a timely manner.
* Interpret and correlate clinical test results with patient history and conditions.
* Communicate critical lab results and any instrument malfunctions to medical personnel.
* Conduct quality control, routine maintenance, and troubleshoot instruments.
* Prepare reagents and manage laboratory supplies efficiently.
* Utilize computer functions for ordering, performing, and reporting tests.
* Teach in the School of Medical Technology as needed.
* Consistently meet all regulatory lab requirements.
* Take on additional duties as requested by your manager.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications:
* High School Diploma
* New York State Department of Education License, Provisional Permit, or Limited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related Science
* Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
Physical Requirements
This role involves medium work, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently. You will need to be comfortable with frequent walking, standing, or squatting.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay Range: $33.75 - $45.00
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full-time applicant. It may be modified in the future and is eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
