Swansea City AFC, in partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University, is offering an internship opportunity which aims to provide hands-on industry experience to students pursuing their MSc Professional Practice (Sport Performance Analysis). This is a varied and demanding role designed to provide invaluable applied experience within an elite professional football environment. The successful candidate will support the delivery of performance analysis services to the First Team, contributing to the club’s technical, tactical and strategic objectives. To gain maximum benefit from this opportunity, applicants must be available for the full duration of the 2026–27 season. KEY PURPOSE To support the First Team Performance Analysis department in the collection, coding, interpretation and delivery of video and data insights that inform: • Match day preparation & filming • Opposition preparation • Training capturing, content organising and distributing • Individual player development The role will provide hands-on experience in analysis delivery, stakeholder communication, and the benchmarking and monitoring of technical and tactical performance metrics. CORE TASKS Match & Training Analysis • Assist in the filming of First Team fixtures and distributing footage to relevant coaching staff. • Capture training sessions through IP cameras and drones. • Contribute to the analysis of training sessions to ensure alignment with game model principles. • Maintain the training database in relation to our game model and working week. Opposition Analysis • Begin the preparation of structured opposition reports. • Support the preparation of clear and concise visual presentations for coaching staff and players. • Create video reports for our players outlining future opponents individuals. • Maintain and update a penalty dashboard and database for future opponents. • Support the first team analysts with any ad hoc requests relating the future opponents. Department Operations • Maintain organised workflows across fixtures, training and reporting cycles. • Contribute to innovation projects within the analysis department. • Update our Loans players matches and ensure coaching staff have access to match footage. • Complete ad hoc tasks as requested by the Head of First Team Analysis and First Team coaching staff.
