Overview
The Lighthouse Federation, St James Academy, Brownhills – Level 2 Teaching Assistant, 28.75 hrs a week. Term Time Only. Grade G4 £25,183 - £27,269 - Pro-Rata to hours worked. Actual Salary: £16,830 - £18,224. This post is in our Specialist Resource Provision, a 16-place facility for EYFS, KS1 and KS2 children with communication and language needs. Start date: as soon as possible. Hours: 28.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.45am – 3.15pm (with 45 minutes for lunch).
St James Academy is a good school (OFSTED 2024) where expectations for academic achievement and behaviour are high. We are part of the Lighthouse Multi-Academy Trust, which provides opportunities for professional development and collaboration with federated schools.
Responsibilities
* Work in our Specialist Resource Provision with children (EYFS, KS1 and KS2) who have communication and language needs.
* Support teachers and other staff in the SRP, delivering in-class support, individual and small-group interventions using the provided planning.
* Help children become independent learners and support their needs through innovative, inclusive practice.
* Contribute to shaping the future of SEND provision in Walsall through training and development opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience
* At least NVQ Level 2 in teaching assistance or equivalent; GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
* Experience of or training in the Principles of Nurture (Nurture Group UK) is ideally desired; knowledge of Attachment and Trauma in children and how adverse childhood experiences can affect learning.
* Resilience, professional curiosity, and the ability to interpret behaviour as communication of unmet needs; ability to work with ADHD, ASD, SLD and MLD when supporting learning.
* Ability to use teachers’ planning to deliver in-class support and to engage in independent and collaborative work within a team.
