Job Title: Legal Aid Costs Draftsperson Family Department Location: Bury Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Costs Draftsperson to join our client's busy and expanding Family Department. This role is ideal for someone with a solid background in legal aid billing and a keen eye for detail who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare and submit fixed fee and exceptional Legal Aid bills, including High Cost Case Plans. Compile and submit bundles required by the Legal Aid Agency (LAA). Liaise with counsels chambers to ensure claims and fee notes are submitted promptly and accurately. Coordinate with fee earners and third parties to claim all recoverable costs and disbursements. Communicate with clients regarding legal aid billing, as necessary. Serve bills in compliance with procedural rules and cost assessment protocols. Monitor CCMS notifications and ensure timely submissions and responses in line with LAA deadlines. Keep up to date with changes in legal aid cost regulations and funding guidance specific to family law. Prepare interim and final private bills of costs. Perform general administrative duties related to billing and file closures. Provide guidance and training to colleagues to enhance best practices in cost recovery.
