We are seeking either one full‑time or two part‑time (job share) highly motivated Research Assistant(s) to join our Global Primary and Community Care team in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. The group is a collaboration between the University of Cambridge and the East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT), using global health thinking to address local health inequalities and enable reciprocal learning between global and local contexts.
Responsibilities
* Work collaboratively with a range of primary and community health services across ELFT to contribute to clinically relevant research projects in women’s and children’s health.
* Contribute to evidence synthesis on models of care for maternal and child health in low resource settings locally and globally.
* Support qualitative work with healthcare professionals and the public to identify key areas for intervention in current healthcare pathways that would impact greater health equity.
* Apply for ethical approval to conduct studies in the NHS.
* Contribute to grant writing and international collaborations.
* Contribute to global health teaching.
Qualifications
* Subject matter knowledge in maternal and child health.
* Completed a Masters level degree (or equivalent qualification) in an area related to global health research.
* Experience of conducting evidence synthesis, literature searching and writing for publication.
* Experience of conducting research and ethical applications within the NHS and global health settings is desirable, as is experience of qualitative research methods.
* Good organisational and project management skills.
* Strong communication skills in both academic writing and wider dissemination.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a standard Disclosure and Barring Service check. This post would also suit clinicians wanting to develop academic and research skills. Successful candidates would also be supported to work towards a PhD application in the future.
The funds for this post are available until 30th June 2028.
