The Role
They are seeking to appoint a native speaker of French to the post of part:time, term:time Language Assistant to conduct conversation lessons in French, principally with pupils in Years 10:13. The post is available for 8 hours per week,
This is a part time, term time only position, to include attendance at all Professional Development Days (INSET) in the school calendar. During published PGS school terms, the hours of work will be 8 hours per week.
Main Responsibilities
* To conduct conversation lessons in French, principally with pupils in Years 10 to 13
* To assist pupils in small groups or 1:1 with their preparation for each of the oral examination components
* To prepare resources to enable pupils to discuss a variety of topics in French in support of the curriculum
* To develop strategies to develop pupils confidence and conversation ability in French with support from department staff
* To work with the Head of Modern Languages as required to support pupils in Years 7 to 10 to develop their French oral skills
* To ensure the safeguarding of pupils
The Ideal Candidate
* A good standard of education
* Fluency in French to the standard of a native speaker
* Ability to develop resources to support effective pupil learning and to inspire pupils interest in the subject
* Ability to appraise pupil spoken delivery
* A good knowledge of French culture and society to support and extend topic: based pupil discussions.
* Motivation to work with children and young people
* Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and with the Head of Modern Languages
