Overview
Would you like to work as part of a passionate, forward-thinking, high-performing GP team with an Outstanding CQC rating and Investors in People Gold accreditation?
Following the upcoming retirement of two of our longstanding GPs, we are looking for a new GP to join our dynamic and supportive team from April 2026.
At CompassHouse, we believe in a collaborative environment that enhances our daily work experience, brings joy to our everyday tasks, and builds resilience. We are proud of our strong team culture and commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and staff wellbeing.
Main duties of the job
You will join a multi-disciplinary team that includes GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists, Paramedics, a dedicated Nursing team, Care Co-ordinators, and Social Prescribers. Together we provide high-quality, person-centred care to the communities of Brixham, Kingswear, Churston, Galmpton, and the outskirts of Paignton.
We are passionate about providing excellent care for our patients while ensuring the day remains manageable and fulfilling for our team.
Our On the Day Team brings together GPs, ANPs, Paramedics, and a nursing team member in a dedicated hub to share the load and support one another. Our Planned Care sessions typically include 25 patient contacts across the day, with protected time for admin, patient reviews, and coffee breaks giving you the autonomy to shape your day. Our Clinical Pharmacy Team manages medication queries, reviews, and repeat prescriptions, while our Care Co-ordinators have streamlined processes to reduce GP workload. Home visits are primarily carried out by our Paramedic and Visiting ANP, supported by an experienced Nursing Team of RGNs, Nursing Associates, APs, GPAs, HCAs, and Phlebotomists.
About us
We are based in a purpose-built, sea-view Practice in the fishing town of Brixham, serving a growing list size of over 15,500 patients. We also operate from a branch site in Galmpton and a newly refurbished wing at Brixham Hospital.
As a Training Practice, we host and train Medical Students, GP Registrars, nurses and many other primary care roles. We are also part of the South West Clinical Research Network, contributing to ongoing studies. We place great importance on professional growth, wellbeing, and longevity. Many of our team members have been with us for over a decade. We hold regular social events and meetings throughout the year, from our summer rounders match to our Christmas party.
We work closely with two other Torbay surgeries as part of the Baywide Primary Care Network, and with neighbouring practices under Torbay General Practice, delivering shared services such as Improved Access clinics and the COVID vaccination programme.
We are active in our local community, hosting Fishermen clinics quayside for our local population, as well as delivering GP Ward Care at Brixham Hospital.
Our culture has been recognised externally too — in 2025 we achieved Investors in People Gold, reflecting our commitment to making Compass House a great place to work and grow and have been commended for our commitment to workplace wellbeing.
