Senior Support Worker – Children’s Residential Care RADAAS Ltd is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Support Worker to join a high-quality residential care service supporting young people. Location: Residential Children’s Home Role: Senior Support Worker Hours: Full-time Compliance: Enhanced DBS Mandatory Training Training: Diploma Level 3 (Children & Young People) or willingness to work towards it Role Overview The Senior Support Worker plays a key role in ensuring young people receive consistent, safe, and therapeutic care. You will lead by example, support junior staff, and contribute to creating a positive, homely environment where every young person feels valued, respected, and supported to achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities Supporting Young People * Build and maintain safe, trusting, and professional relationships with young people. * Promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive behaviour. * Encourage healthy routines, education, hobbies, and independent living skills. * Ensure consistent boundaries and appropriate responses to behaviour. * Support young people during admission, placement, transition, and leaving care. * Organise group activities, day-to-day routines, and contribute to a healthy lifestyle. Leadership & Team Responsibilities * Lead shifts and ensure the home operates smoothly and safely. * Support, guide, and mentor care staff and trainees. * Attend reviews, planning meetings, and contribute to multi-agency work. * Work collaboratively with social workers, families, and external professionals. * Promote high standards of safeguarding and therapeutic practice at all times. * Participate in staff supervision, appraisal, and ongoing professional development. Administrative & Compliance Duties * Maintain accurate and detailed records, including incident reports and progress notes. * Manage petty cash and follow financial procedures. * Uphold all company policies, safeguarding standards, and statutory regulations. * Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed in line with organisational requirements. * Support senior management and deputise in their absence when required. Essential Requirements * Experience supporting young people in residential care or a similar setting. * Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection processes. * Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills. * Ability to remain calm, professional, and consistent in challenging situations. * Commitment to equality, diversity, confidentiality, and therapeutic practice. * Willingness to undertake all mandatory training and qualifications.
