Are you a Psychology or Criminology graduate seeking meaningful frontline experience before progressing into careers such as Forensic Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Youth Justice, or Social Work? This opportunity offers the chance to work within a specialist SEMH primary school setting, supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs, including those who have experienced trauma.
This role provides invaluable practical experience in trauma-informed education and behaviour support, preparing you for future postgraduate training and professional pathways within psychology, criminal justice, and therapeutic services.

Key Responsibilities
1. Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support their emotional and behavioural development.
2. Providing 1:1 and small group support within both academic and therapeutic sessions.
3. Supporting children at risk of exclusion or disengagement from education.
4. Helping pupils regulate emotions, manage behaviour, and develop resilience through trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
5. Assisting teachers in lesson delivery, behaviour support, and classroom management.
6. Encouraging life skills, independence, and positive coping strategies within a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
7. Promoting inclusion by using school spaces effectively – from calm regulation areas to outdoor learning – to support social, emotional, and academic growth.
What We’re Looking For
8. Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Youth & Community Work, or related fields.
9. Experience in youth work, mentoring, care, or mental health support is beneficial but not essential.
10. A genuine motivation to support vulnerable children who have experienced trauma or SEMH challenges.
11. Calm, resilient, and empathetic individuals who can remain solution-focused in the face of challenging behaviours.
12. An interest in social justice, rehabilitation, and inclusive education.
13. Experience with SEMH or neurodivergent learners is an advantage – but full training is provided.
