Position Overview
This post is for a full‑time Research Assistant in the laboratory of Professor Steve Jackson (https://www.stevejacksonlab.org/) based in the internationally renowned Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge, UK.
Responsibilities
* Assist experienced postdoctoral research associates with several on‑going projects in the lab, exploring the cellular mechanisms of DNA‑damage responses and investigating how sensitivity and resistance arise in different cancer cells with different genetic backgrounds when exposed to radioligand treatments and combination therapies involving clinically relevant drugs.
* Conduct high‑throughput CRISPR‑Cas9 screens to explore sensitivity/resistance mechanisms in defined genetic backgrounds, followed by validation and ensuing mechanistic studies.
* Prepare reagents, maintain lab stocks and assist in the day‑to‑day running of the laboratory.
* Take on additional lab duties as required, demonstrating initiative and independent thinking.
Qualifications
* Experience in CRISPR genome editing and/or CRISPR genetic screens is desirable.
* Strong background in cell and molecular biology techniques, tissue culture, and stable cell line generation.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a vibrant and diverse team.

* Fixed‑term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
