PitStop Productions are seeking a talented individual to join their Sound Design team as an Audio Programmer.
PitStop are a team of 80+ audio specialists providing creative services to the game industry, covering all aspects of audio, such as Sound Design, Music, and Voice, as well as Game Design and development support. Recently completed titles include Baldur’s Gate 3, Helldivers II, and Horizon: Call Of The Mountain.
The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects from AAA to indie. The main responsibilities will be to create an interface to seamlessly integrate middleware with the game engine, namely Wwise with Unreal, as well as maintain and resolve any bugs related to this integration. You’ll work closely with our Technical and Creative Audio teams, as well as Gameplay Programmers, to ensure that all necessary hooks are in place to support the technical implementation process.

* Work with the Sound Design team, Voice department, and external development teams to conceptualise, design and implement high-quality audio systems
* Create clean and robust code, following standards and guidelines set out on a per client basis, and be able to pass on knowledge to the technical sound team to maintain audio management systems through concise documentation
* Ensure audio consistency across all platforms and devices, using development kits and providing gameplay logs where necessary to support external QA teams
* Create, debug, and optimise audio features, both in engine and in audio software and middleware, in order to streamline the audio content pipeline between PitStop and external development teams
* Work with QA and code teams on multiple projects, resolving any bugs and issues that may arise related to audio implementation
* Be able to integrate audio middleware confidently, ensuring ample testing on multiple platforms in order to minimise disruption to development
* Strong proficiency in C++
* Experience using blueprints in UE4 or higher
* Familiarity with audio middleware tools such as Wwise and FMOD. Advanced knowledge of Wwise authoring tools and WAAPI is advantageous.
* Some experience in creating codebases, particularly for multiplayer video games
* Proficiency with bug tracking tools, including JIRA
* Experience in a programming role of full cycle development on at least one game title, or experience of each development stage separately from multiple titles
Contract type: This is a short-term freelance opportunity with work required between June and October 2024. We may consider a full-time permanent position at PitStop within our team for suitable candidates.
Working hours : 37.5 hours per week
Working pattern: Monday – Friday 9.30am – 6pm (including unpaid hour for lunch).
Location: Preference of In-house at our Head Office and Studios in Dodworth, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, however we welcome applications from all candidates despite location for remote opportunities.
