Are you a confident, creative communicator with strong media and engagement expertise?
We are seeking a Communications and Engagement Officer to join our Corporate Communications Department at Nottinghamshire Police.
What You’ll Do
* Create, deliver and evaluate internal and external communication and engagement activity aligned to force priorities
* Develop research-led communication strategies and tactical plans to inform, engage and reassure communities
* Manage and respond to national, regional and local media enquiries, supporting operational policing needs
* Act as Bronze Communications Officer and occasionally deputise as Silver during major or critical incidents
* Provide strategic and tactical communications advice to officers and staff at all levels
* Arrange and support corporate events, internal communications activity and recognition ceremonies
* Build and maintain strong relationships with media and key stakeholders
* Engage directly with officers, staff and the public through effective management of digital communication channels
* Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota to support communications during critical incidents
* Demonstrable experience delivering communications and engagement activity within a large or complex organisation
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing content for multiple channels
* Proven ability to plan, deliver and evaluate communication strategies for diverse audiences
* Strong understanding of media relations, internal communications and digital engagement
* Experience of producing creative communications products, including audio and visual content
* Ability to work calmly under pressure, prioritising workloads in fast-paced and sensitive environments
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills and political awareness

* Willingness to travel across the county and work flexibly, including unsociable hours when required
