PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

BBC Radio Berkshire serves a diverse population of almost 1 million people in urban centres like Reading and Slough, historic Windsor and rural West Berkshire. We’re looking for someone who can craft great audio for BBC Local’s expanding digital services, including BBC Sounds.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

Your focus will be on shaping great audio for our digital platforms, including the Secret Berkshire brand, the local Sounds rail, online and social media, as well as creating stand-out crafted content for daily radio shows and special editorial moments. A talented, creative and experienced producer, you will also support our radio teams by managing music, trails and station sound.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

* Inclusivity, respect, team work and creativity are important to us. You’ll need to demonstrate these values as well as having a passion to serve local audiences.
* You will have the ability to work flexibly and efficiently under pressure, to tight deadlines, with first rate communication skills.
* You’ll have extensive experience of producing audio content, and you’ll understand what stories matter to our current audiences and the new listeners we’ll be serving on digital.
* You’ll know how to craft audio to make creative and engaging content that resonates with local communities and has the potential to travel further via social media.
* We’re looking for someone who is organised, self-motivated and bursting with original ideas. Ideally you will also be able to support the wider team with duties such as live programme production.

If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
