Education Welfare Officer – Grade SO2 (pro-rata), 36 hours per week, term time only.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide practical guidance to schools on attendance policy and the law.
* Advise and support children and their parents/carers on promoting good attendance and punctuality.
* Make recommendations to other agencies to provide vulnerable families with a holistic package of support.
* Promote equality of opportunity for all children to access appropriate educational entitlement.
* Work independently, manage a demanding workload, prioritize tasks and adapt to changing challenges.
* Travel across the borough for home visits, school visits and meetings.
* Attend the office for the first 3 months of appointment and 2 days a week thereafter.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience as an Education Welfare Officer or similar role.
* Good understanding of the education system, especially school attendance.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work on own initiative and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
