Join our team to re open a very popular, independent restaurant in Southend Town Centre, The Pipe of Port. Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and bank holiday Mondays Tronc tip system.
We are seeking a talented and dedicated Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for food and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences. As a Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food production, preparation, and presentation while maintaining food safety and hygiene regulations.
Duties
* Assist the Head Chef in supervising kitchen staff and coordinating daily kitchen activities.
* Oversee food production processes to ensure quality and consistency in dishes served.
* Manage food preparation, including chopping, cooking, and plating meals to meet service requirements.
* Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in culinary techniques and best practices.
* Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
* Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu planning, including seasonal specials and dietary requirements.
* Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure adequate stock.
* Implement food safety protocols to guarantee compliance with local regulations.
Requirements
* Proven experience in a similar role within a restaurant or hospitality environment.
* Strong supervisory skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
* Extensive knowledge of food production techniques and culinary practices.
* Excellent cooking skills with a creative flair for presentation.
* Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene.
* Previous experience in kitchen management or leadership roles is advantageous.
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
