As an Autism Specialist Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated communication, sensory, or behavioural needs. You’ll work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to help each young person access learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills. Your role may involve supporting students within the classroom, during sensory sessions, or on school trips — creating a consistent and nurturing environment that promotes independence and emotional regulation. Key Responsibilities Support students with Autism and associated needs (ASC, SLD, PMLD). Implement communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or visual supports (training provided if required). Promote engagement, focus, and positive behaviour in learning settings. Assist with sensory regulation, emotional development, and social interaction. Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to deliver personalised learning plans. Support students on trips, enrichment activities, and outdoor learning sessions. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience working with young people or adults with Autism or additional needs (school, care, or community setting). Understanding of sensory needs, communication differences, or behavioural support. A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
