This role is at the very core of our highly successful Membership Service. It is fundamental to the business and will expose the successful candidate to a variety of work for different companies in different industries.
Responsibilities
* Conduct in‑person annual safety review meetings with our clients.
* Provide professional, friendly, practical advice to them based on your extensive legal knowledge and industry experience.
* Score their health and safety performance against our safety management system criteria.
* Write reports reflecting the positive efforts they have made and the steps they need to take to achieve compliance.
* Write and update health and safety policies.
* Build relationships by keeping in touch via phone and email and helping the clients to improve their safety standards.
* Identify training needs.
* Book required training or signpost to our training department.
* Take calls from Membership Service clients while in the office and give advice as needed.
* Visit a variety of sites to conduct workplace safety inspections.
* Produce a report on the above with professional and practical advice.
* Communicate with site management any issues arising from the inspection both verbally and in writing.
* Conduct accident/incident investigations for our clients.
* Provide high quality investigation reports into the above.
* Create and record safe systems of work including Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments and Manual Handling assessments.
* Review and advise on risk assessments written by others (primarily our clients’ contractors).
* Other consultancy work as required by the business.
Skills required
* Skillful communicator, able to listen and understand the work our clients do and the challenges they face.
* Ability to apply knowledge to different workplace situations.
* Accurate recall of information to answer challenging questions.Capability to deal with a broad spectrum of compliance and engagement.
* Proficiency in writing concise, accurate reports presented in a professional but friendly manner.
* Capability to give practical, realistic advice in a language our clients can understand.
* Comfortable with Microsoft Office programs and using IT systems.
Qualifications and Experience Required
* NEBOSH General Certificate (essential).
* Minimum of 6 GCSEs including English and Mathematics at grades A‑C (or equivalent).
* Thorough understanding of Safety Management Systems.
* Appreciation of safety accreditation schemes (e.g. CHAS / Achilles).
* Experience of writing health and safety policy documents.
* Experience of conducting site safety inspections.
* Experience and understanding of accident investigation techniques.
* Broad, working knowledge of UK health and safety legislative requirements.
* Full driving license.

Key Details
Location: Southampton, England, United Kingdom.
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum depending on skillset and experience.
Hours: Office hours are 8 am – 4.30 pm.
Start date: 12th January 2026 (subject to notice period).
