Job Summary
The Rough Sleeper Drug and Alcohol (RSDA) Team is an exciting and innovative team which provides a bespoke, assertive outreach, trauma-informed addictions treatment model to those with substance misuse needs who are at risk of becoming homeless or are homeless.
The team is a Multi-Disciplinary Team comprising Consultant Psychiatry, Non-Medical Prescribers, Assertive Outreach workers, Recovery Coordinators, Neuropsychology, and a Mental Health Practitioner.
The service aims to support people facing multiple needs and exclusions, which lead to difficulties in finding and maintaining suitable accommodation and increase the risk of recurring homelessness.
As the post holder, you should have demonstrable experience working in a health or social care setting and hold a Level 3 NVQ in health or equivalent experience. Knowledge of substance misuse and its effects is essential.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide community-based engagement, assessment, and brief interventions to service users with substance misuse needs. They will work as part of the RSDA Team alongside Local Authority staff, Rough Sleeper Initiative and Housing First Dual Diagnosis Practitioners, police, and homeless outreach workers. Support will be provided to rough sleepers through drop-in clinics at day centres or directly on the street, working alongside outreach workers.
You will actively outreach to the homeless by connecting with them in their communities, offering advice, information, advocacy, and support. Interventions will be tailored to individual needs, within safeguarding and confidentiality boundaries. You will use a multidisciplinary assessment approach to build trust and increase engagement.
You will case manage a small caseload of identified service users with substance misuse problems, keeping them informed of available services and involving them in developing realistic recovery plans. You will facilitate access to clinical, psychosocial, health, housing interventions, and other community services.

Person Specification
Education and Experience (Essential)
* Diploma/NVQ 3 level (or equivalent experience in health or social care) and willingness to undertake further specialist training.
* Experience working with service users in health or social care settings.
* Experience working with substance misuse.

Knowledge (Essential)
