Are you ready to bridge the gap between cutting-edge mathematical research and real-world engineering? We are looking for an Applied Cryptographer to design and implement advanced cryptographic schemes that power secure, scalable systems.
The Challenge
In this role, you will work on bleeding-edge technology, focusing on everything from Post-Quantum prototypes to the hand-optimization of existing primitives and the creation of entirely new systems. You won't just be theorizing; you will work side-by-side with architects and engineers to turn novel primitives—potentially designed by you—into market-ready products.
To succeed, you must balance a rigorous mathematical approach with a pragmatic mindset. You understand how to manage technical debt and effort to ensure products are shipped while their market impact is at its peak.
Key Responsibilities
* Research & Design: Lead and contribute to novel cryptographic research that aligns with specific product and engineering needs.
* Engineering Integration: Translate research output into rigorous engineering specifications and high-performance implementations.
* Prototyping: Prototype, benchmark, and implement cryptographic systems and primitives.
* Collaboration: Extract requirements regarding parameters and resource constraints from engineering teams and participate in weekly innovation and research meetings.
* Quality & Review: Meticulously review cryptographic protocols and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
* Knowledge Sharing: Participate in initiatives to enhance team-wide understanding of cryptographic technologies.
Key Competencies
* Technical Expertise: Expert knowledge of Elliptic Curve Cryptography, ZK protocols (e.g., PlonK, IPA), and Post-Quantum security.
* Practical Implementation: Proven experience implementing cryptographic primitives using low-level languages such as C++ or Rust.
* Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with blockchain cryptography, consensus protocols, and constructions.
* Rigorous Design: Expertise in the design of cryptographic protocols and the ability to interpret and explain complex cryptographic papers for practical use.
* Security Mindset: A strong security sensibility regarding implementation and a deep understanding of engineering constraints.
* Communication: Excellent technical communication skills for effective cross-functional work between research and engineering teams.
Education & Experience
* PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or Applied Mathematics.
* A minimum of 4–5 years of development experience in the field.
* Expert knowledge of applied cryptography best practices.
* Proficiency with Git and version control systems.
The Environment
You will be supported by a high-bandwidth, multi-disciplinary team, including cryptography researchers, software architects, formal methods specialists, and QA test engineers. This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of the industry where your designs directly impact the market.
