Head of Sustainability

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is seeking applications for our Head of Sustainability, this is an exciting role with the opportunity to make change across the Northern Care Alliance to deliver our sustainability ambitions outlined in the Trust's Green Plan.

You will be part of the senior team in Estates and Facilities with close working with our Board to lead and support our sustainability agenda at the Northern Care Alliance.

We are looking for candidates experienced within the sustainability sector who are able to operate at a strategic and operational level to deliver change. You will bring expertise to the organisation in energy management, environmental sustainability and the legislative frameworks required for trust compliance. You will have experience of working at a senior management level and with a range of stakeholders. You will demonstrate a strong passion for sustainability and excellent interpersonal skills for working with colleagues.

Main duties of the job

To lead, develop and project manage the implementation of the Trust's approach to the energy and environmental sustainability programme.

You will be integral to ensuring the Trust's environmental legal compliance, embedding sustainable design and construction in our capital programmes, maintain environmental management systems and promote our sustainability ambitions to the wider organisation.

You will work closely with clinical teams and proactively embed environmental sustainability and efficiency across the organisation engaging key stakeholders including partners to deliver the Trust's vision to become a leading NHS Trust for environmental sustainability.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in relevant field

Bachelor Degree in relevant field

Knowledge

Knowledge of relevant British and European legislation and NHS guidance.

Knowledge of management systems

Knowledge of financial systems and financial management

Skills

Use own initiative

Demonstrate commitment to sustainability agenda

Delivering high standards

Flexible approach

Ability to assign own priorities and manage workload

Organised methodical and professional approach to work

Ability to motivate and provide leadership

Excellent analytical skills

IT literate

Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with and present to with clinical, technical, and senior managerial staff both inside and outside the organisation regarding a range of technical subject areas related to the post.

Ability to develop, implement and monitor policies and procedures to support core areas and disciplines

Ability to deal with highly complicated situations and the delivery of challenging corporate objectives

Problem solving and ability to react to non- routine situations

Ability to interpret and communicate highly complex technical, financial, and operational information to a range of audiences
