Elevate Flexible Legal Resourcing is seeking a Risk and Compliance Lawyer for a 3-month contract, starting ASAP with a reputed law firm, hybrid, based in London. The successful candidate will collaborate with the firm's Legal Team and Business Intake Team on various risk and ethics issues, as well as handle client onboarding issues as they arise across various jurisdictions.
Qualifications:
* JD degree or equivalent degree or legal qualification.
* Admitted to the bar (or local equivalent) and in good standing or otherwise authorised to practice law.
* 5+ years’ relevant experience in AML/KYC/RISK/COMPLIANCE.
* Previous experience in a similar law firm compliance team or regulated industry.
* Understanding of SRA Code of Conduct and Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
* Knowledge of Money Laundering Regulations 2017 and Money Laundering Directives.
* Understanding of EU and UK GDPR data protection laws.
* Excellent legal research skills.
* Knowledge of law firm systems and data management.
* Proactive communicator with the ability to influence key stakeholders.
Key areas of responsibility in this role include:
* Devising, updating, revising, and reviewing compliance policies and procedures.
* Assisting with compliance with laws and regulations applicable to EMEA offices.
* Assisting with anti-money laundering compliance, including client due diligence and background checks.
* Assisting with data protection laws, including UK and EU GDPR.
* Developing compliance training for solicitors and trainees.
* Running compliance projects, initiatives, and monitoring exercises.
* Supplying information to regulatory authorities and reviewing registers.
* Supporting the firm's conflicts attorney team on legal conflicts analysis.
* Supporting partners and business intake group on client engagement issues.
* Assisting in client audit responses, pitch documents/RFPs, and ethical walls.
* Assisting with sanctions screening and analysis.
* Reviewing contracts, including non-disclosure agreements.
* Staying updated with trends and best practices in risk and compliance areas.
* Working as part of the Global Solutions offering for efficiency and process improvement.
