Education and Skills - Building Bright Futures

Are you an experienced and dedicated teacher with a passion for making a difference? Our SEND team is looking for a qualified Advisory Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People to join their team!

Our innovative Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Service exists to improve outcomes and make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people with SEND, and their families, who require support to be included in their community.

As part of this role, you will provide support to families and advice to enable pre-schools, mainstream and special schools, and colleges to enhance the effective education of children/young people with hearing impairment. You will be responsible for providing direct teaching to children and young people and planning visits according to their needs, within designated areas of the county. You will need to work closely with settings and health staff, children and young people, and parents to ensure that the best possible outcomes are achieved.

We are seeking a qualified Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People. Proven experience and knowledge of current Special Educational Needs processes and legislation, alongside up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance in relation to working with, and the protection of, children and young people, will be essential. With excellent interpersonal skills, you will have the ability to engage and motivate children and young people with a creative and flexible approach.

Why us?

Wiltshire Council is a friendly, welcoming place to work, with a 'One Council' ethos. That’s why we focus on getting the things that matter to our people right.

This role may be subject to certain successful security checks; please see the role description for more information.

We are firmly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and to the principles of inclusion and diversity in both employment and the delivery of services.
