HCM & Payroll Functional Manager – Group Services (Hinckley or Uxbridge)
Responsibilities
* Management and mentoring of two internal HCM and Payroll Functional Consultants.
* Manage and support Oracle HR and Payroll implementation projects, including requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing and deployment.
* Interpret functional requirements and deliver a technical design for build internally or with a support partner.
* Apply subject expertise to evaluate business operations and processes.
* Identify areas where technical solutions improve business performance and promote best practice adoption.
* Consult across business operations, provide mentorship and contribute specialised knowledge.
* Recommend technical solutions and determine software development requirements.
* Provide subject expertise and guidance throughout the software development life cycle.
* Oversee development, testing and implementation of technical solutions, including weekly patches and quarterly releases.
* Support key testing periods, identifying additional resource requirements for change, particularly around tax patch releases.
* Determine whether technical solutions meet defined requirements.
* Verify technical reference information, including user guides, training manuals and system requirements.
* Ensure accurate representation of expertise before distributing solutions to end users.
* Document processes and disseminate information to relevant stakeholders.
* Troubleshoot and resolve HCM & Payroll issues in the Group’s incident management system (SNOW).
* Deliver presentations to the business detailing new functionality and best practices.
Qualifications
* At least 3 years’ experience managing a functional team for business‑as‑usual support and quarterly release delivery.
* Strong customer handling skills and ability to lead and mentor team members.
* Drive hands‑on process improvement and take responsibility for continual improvement.
* Strong communication skills and ability to translate business requirements into design documents.
* Ability to work under pressure and prioritise conflicting requirements to meet deadlines.
* Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with quick absorption of complex business knowledge.
* High standard of literacy and documentation skills.
* Knowledge of the construction industry, reporting and analytics, payroll concepts, Fusion support and HCM.
* Business process management skills – model and analyse ‘as‑is’ and ‘to‑be’ processes and business rules.
* Technology awareness – ability to understand how IT systems can solve business problems.
* Collaborative decision‑making and effective communication at all business levels.
* Valid UK driver’s licence – travel required to various business locations.
* Previous project‑management experience and working knowledge of Waterfall and Agile methods.
* Degree‑level education in Business Information Systems, Business Management, Computing, Systems Development, Computer Science, or a relevant HR/Payroll professional qualification.
* Proficient in Word and Excel, including pivot tables and macros.
* 5+ years’ experience supporting large complex businesses across HCM and Payroll modules.
* Delivered continual improvement of Oracle Fusion HCM and Payroll modules, managing opt‑in quarterly releases across at least 8 cycles.
* Expert knowledge of Fast Formulas (Payroll).
