* Insights & Evaluations, Communications, Media, or Social Media Analysis background from either a large communications agency or in-house team
* General understanding of, and interest in, the communications landscape (including traditional media, social media, and digital/web channels)
* Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with experience building credible, collaborative, and engaging stakeholder relationships
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to translate data and insights into a story and present findings to internal stakeholders
* A proactive and solutions-driven approach to problem-solving and driving continuous improvements
* Strategic mindset with an understanding of how to use data insights to inform communications plans, with an understanding of how this contributes to the objectives of the directorate and charity
* Technical skills: Excel (intermediate or advanced) and PowerPoint
What the job involves
* Reports to: Lead, Insight & Evaluation
* Hours: Full time 35 hours per week
* This new team was created to support our Communications department and the wider organisation in furthering Cancer Research UK's mission and impact by generating data-driven and evidence-led insights to inform our communications planning and reach our key audiences, while also evaluating the performance of our communications activities and campaigns
* As an Insights & Evaluations Officer, you will play a crucial role in our mission by collaborating with a diverse range of Communications teams spanning Strategic Communications, Social Media, Digital News, Media Relations, Internal Communications, and Cancer Stories to deliver actionable data-driven insights and reporting
* This will involve manipulating and quality checking our data, while advising teams on how to improve their data and meet evaluation frameworks and best practices
* Furthermore, you will horizon scan for, and analyse the performance of, a diverse range of communications campaigns (such as Children's Cancer Awareness month, Race For Life, Stand Up to Cancer, & Smokefree UK, etc)
* This will be a varied and autonomous role where you will have the opportunity to help shape this new team and achieve our strategy to better harness data to deliver more relevant, trusted, and frictionless experiences for our audiences, ultimately maximising our impact
* Assisting in delivering insightful reporting across Cancer Research UK's Communications department, ensuring regular and priority evaluation documents are produced and presented to the required standard
* Our communications department consists of: Strategic Communications, Social Media, Digital News, Media Relations, Internal Communications, and Cancer Stories
* Generating and providing actionable data-driven insights to support colleagues in delivering effective and impactful communications activities and campaigns
* Compiling, delivering, and presenting regular evaluation reports measuring the effectiveness of Cancer Research UK's communications across all channels
* Conducting research and analysis using communications reporting tools and data-handling skills
* Collaborating with a diverse range of Communications teams and across the organisation to ensure evaluation materials and reports are delivered to the required standard
* Developing innovative, engaging, and impactful methods of gathering and presenting data
* Ensuring that reporting is robust and accurate by carrying out data quality checks on internal and external data
* Championing the value of utilising data in communications planning, helping to create and maintain a culture of Insight & Evaluation within the Communications department
* Seeking opportunities to provide data-driven insights and be more evidence-led across communications activities
* Regularly examining monitoring briefs, queries, and dashboards to ensure they effectively measure current communications priorities
* Serving as an internal Insight & Evaluation point of contact for data requests and guidance on evaluation practices
* Keeping up to date with the latest best practices and innovations in the communications measurement and evaluation industry
* Collaborating with other teams and individuals across the charity, developing meaningful relationships and understanding their needs
* Understanding how effectively evaluating our activity supports the delivery of our communications function and wider organisational objectives
