We have a fantastic opportunity for a Packing Shift Manager to join us in our Liverpool plant!
In this dynamic role, you’ll lead a high-performing team to deliver excellence across safety, quality, cost, and delivery. You’ll drive continuous improvement, champion food safety and compliance, and play a key role in shaping team development and engagement. Key accountabilities, deliverables & KPIs, impact on business results
Safety
1. Animation of safety culture across the team
2. Delivery of safety improvement plans for the area
3. Involvement in WISE (working in safe environment) cultural and compliance elements
4. Delivery of site target of ‘0’ accidents through ownership of audits, tags, near missed, incident reporting
Quality
5. Animation of the quality and food safety culture across the team
6. Ensure products meet the strict quality parameters on an operational basis and work with the teams to analyse production failures to develop long term plans to minimise product variability and specification inconsistency.
7. Drive quality and food safety topics through engagement with specialists
8. Managing all food safety activities within department including accountability for process release.
9. Cost
10. Work closely with the team to manage resource and track any costs related to overtime, agency staff, FTE, or FTC employees
11. Support the BU team with the management of the consumables, services, and systems areas of the budget
Delivery
12. Monitor, track, and performance of the areas production delivery through individual KPI management
13. Closely working with scheduling and planning to create and deliver the most efficient production plan
14. Delivery of planned and autonomous maintenance through the framework in place
15. Use of data to deliver improvements through loss programs and focus area programs
Motivation
16. Creation and delivery of robust compliance, competency and developmental training and assessment plans for the team, using skills matrices as the backbone to all learning
17. Management of teams, and own, learning hours through the QM system
18. Engagement with L&D to deliver the sites key focus on compliance, e-learn and function learning activities
19. Creation of teams PDR objectives and IDPs through the 1-2-1 system, with support through coaching and mentoring
Environment
20. Ownership and control of area waste and management of improvements
21. Delivery of area energy usage and improvement plan
22. Area standards management & build close relationship with Performance Lead to support with PSGs and FI groups
Key Enablers
23. Creation, delivery, and evolution of the SIM (single interval management) structure within the manufacturing area(s)
24. Implementation of the digital roadmap within the teams/areas, utilising the many platforms available such as Power Bi, eSIM, Zaptic, etc
25. Use of the Business Unit Leadership Team to support in areas of expertise, such as Hygiene, Performance and Engineering
Key Challenges
26. Work on solutions relating to the capacity constraints within to improve overall factory delivery
27. Work on productivity solutions within the BU to drive the cost strategy evolution against the backdrop of increased competition in the market
28. Manage resources within the complex environment of everchanging process, compliance requirements and volume demand
Stakeholders
29. Shift Leaders & Business Unit teams – Team management, cross functionally with packing
30. HR – Agency organisation, people topics, T&A, development
31. Performance & Digital Team – development of digital tools & support, implementation in areas
32. H&S – WISE delivery, Zaptic reporting
33. Finance – Project management, cost analysis, productivity
34. Supply chain – Warehouse as a customer and supplier, scheduling and planning for weekly plan and horizon planning, capacity for volume evolution and forecasting
35. Quality – Food safety, plant quality, hygiene, customer complaints, governance
36. Engineering – Facilities site management, project support, maintenance strategy

About You
Lead a production team to deliver in all areas of the sites and departments objectives, in line with our S, Q, C, D, M, E targets. Be part of a cross functional leadership team that will build a BU strategy and deliver through a defined and aligned roadmap.
Deliver results by engaging with and developing a core team and utilising and calling upon the cross functional expertise within the Business Unit and the rest of the companies support functions.
Become an integral part of a newly developed business unit structure, whilst being able to imprint upon the function your own personal stamp of core beliefs, experience, and expertise in operations
Success will be measured through the delivery of key KPIs and site targets through packing excellence, implementation of key programs and projects and the transformation of the core team into a high performing unit
