Opportunity to make a difference to a wonderful young lady in her family home
On behalf of our client, Head-First is recruiting an enthusiastic and compassionate individual to support our 17-year-old client with Cerebral Palsy. This position provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our client's life by supporting her independent living aspirations and access to the community.
The client has a strong sense of humour and diverse interests. This role primarily focuses on facilitating our client's access to the wider community by supporting her participation in various social events such as activity clubs, cinema visits, dog walks and swimming. Additionally, this role requires assistance with personal care, including manual handling, to support our client's accessibility in the community as a wheelchair user.
Successful candidates will join a small team of experienced carers in our client's 1:1 private home environment and will have access to support throughout.
You will be working in a family home and, therefore, need to be understanding and respectful of family life. In the holidays, there will be the opportunity to cover additional daytime hours and support with holidays both in the UK and abroad.
What does the role offer you?
* An extensive induction and training programme offering support and guidance every step of the way.
* Regular supervision/appraisal and ongoing support from the wider team and therapists.
* Opportunities to gain experience, progress and develop in the role – CPD actively encouraged and supported.
* Extensive and ongoing training will be provided in all aspects of therapeutic handling, hoisting/transfers, feeding, communication and personal care.
* To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Support Requirements:
* Supporting with daytime cover during school holidays and weekends where required
* Flexibility essential to be able to cover at short notice and for pre-arranged holidays.
* Supporting our client in accessing and engaging with social activities
* Providing companionship and encouragement with our client's independence
* Supporting our client's communication with others
* Assistance with personal care, including manual handling and medication administration
* Drive the client in her car - manual driver's license preferred
* Up-to-date DBS enhanced level required – paid for by the employer. You will be required to register with the DBS update service.
About Head First:
We are a CQC-registered case Management company that helps clients recruit their own support workers. You will be directly employed by the client; however, Head First oversees all aspects of the client's care package on her behalf.
